TANAH MERAH: Police detained two men and seized methamphetamine pills worth RM120,000 in two separate operations here, recently.

Tanah Merah district police chief Deputy Superintendent Zainuddin Md Yusuf said the first suspect, a 47-year-old man, was detained at Kampung Bukit Gading here, last Thursday.

He said the suspect was in his Perodua Alza, parked along the road, when he was detained by police at about 3.15pm.

"Upon checking his vehicle, police found 8,000 pills worth about RM80,000.

"They later detained the suspect. The car and some RM500 were also seized from the suspect," he told a press conference here, today.

On the second operation, Zainuddin said police detained a 21-year-old man and seized pills worth RM40,000 from him.

"The suspect was detained for possessing 4,000 pills at Jalan Wan Ahmad at about 6.45pm last Thursday," he said.

He added that the two have been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations into the case.

The remand order ends on Dec 18, he said.
