GEORGE TOWN: A disciplinary teacher was charged at the Magistrate’s Court, here, today with murdering his wife at an apartment in Air Itam more than a week ago.

No plea was recorded from the accused Lim Fong Aun, 42.

He only nodded that he understood the charge framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, when it was read to him before Magistrate L Umma Devi.

Lim is alleged to have killed his wife, T Santhi, 39, by hitting her on the head with a laundry drying rack at their rented apartment in Taman Seri Indah, Air Itam, here, at about 10pm on Nov 18.

Umma Devi fixed Dec 27 for mention pending the post-mortem report.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Syafiq Mohd Razalli prosecuted while the accused was represented by RSN Rayer.

It was reported that a misunderstanding between the couple led to the wife's death.

The husband had admitted to hitting his wife before leaving for his hometown in Kulim.

He then returned to the rented unit at 11am the following day and found his wife still unconscious.

Following the discovery, he returned to Kulim to relate the incident to his family, who instructed him to lodge a police report.

The accused then surrendered himself to the police in Kulim.
