TAPAH: An insurance agent was today fined RM5,000 for obstructing Raja Permasuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim’s car convoy on Oct 25.

Leong Kean Beun, 32, who pleaded guilty to the charge, faces six-month jail if he fails to settle the fine.

The accused, who was driving a white Lexus, was charged with obstructing the convoy by slowing down his car while he was ahead of it at KM351 of the North-South Expressway at 5.20pm.

He was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum penalty of RM10,000 and two-year imprisonment.

Deputy public prosecutor Fatin Farahiyah Nadzri appeared for prosecution before magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan, while the accused was represented by lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation Amani Williams Hunt Abdullah.
