TELUK INTAN: A maintenance worker was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with the murder of three siblings at a house in Kampung Sungai Haji Muhammad in Bagan Datuk, on May 17.

The accused, Shahrul Pitri Jusoh, 35, was also charged with three counts of attempted murder and a charge of causing hurt to a child in the same village on the same day.

Shahrul Pitri faced three separate charges of murdering Muhammad Faqih Zahirulhaq Mohd Fadzil, 5; and the latter’s two younger siblings, Muhammad Firash Zafrill, 3; and Nur Zia Fasihah, 2.

Shahrul was accused of committing the act at a house in the village between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on the first day of Ramadan.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death penalty if convicted.

Shahrul Pitri, when asked by the court, said he understood the charge. No plea was recorded and no bail was offered.

Magistrate Syahdatul Kamila Zakaria set July 14 for the case’s re-mention, as well as to obtain the autopsy and chemistry reports.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Afiqa Liyana Rozman appeared for the prosecution. Shahrul Pitri was not represented.

In a separate court, Shahrul Pitri was accused of using a parang in an attempted murder case against religious teacher, Redhuan Embi, 32, in front of the Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Haji Muhammad (SKSHM), around 2.45pm.

He was also charged with the same offence against Zuraidah Mat Ali, 35, the mother of the three siblings, at a house between 2.30pm and 2.40pm.

He was also accused of committing the same offence against Year Four pupil, Nur Aina Umaira Subri, 10, in front of

SKSHM between 2.15pm and 2.25pm.

The accused was charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code for the three offences, which carries a maximum 10 years’ jail and a fine, if convicted.

Shahrul Pitri was also charged with using a parang to cause hurt to Nur Zuryn Faziera Mohd Fadzil, 9, the elder sister of the three siblings, in front of SKSHM between 2.15pm and 2.25pm.

He was charged under Section 234 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 10 years’ jail, fine or whipping, or any of the two, if convicted.

The accused, whose residence is stated as Taman Alam Megah, Shah Alam, Selangor, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

“I ask for a trial. I was not in a lucid state, I was hallucinating,” Shahrul Pitril told the magistrate.

Norita set re-mention for July 4 and offered no bail to the accused.
