SEREMBAN: For four days residents of flats in Jalan Lobak had been assailed by a stench coming from one of the units.

Unable to bear it any longer, and perhaps suspecting something amiss, one of the residents lodged a police report.

When policemen broke into the unit, they found the body of the 62-year-old owner of the unit in the toilet.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Thiew Hock Poh said the report was lodged at 5.15pm on Tuesday.

“Several policemen were despatched to the location and found the body of the woman in a seated position in the toilet. We don’t believe there was any criminal element involved and have classified it as sudden death,” he said.

Thiew added that the body of the woman was taken to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for post-mortem examination.

He said a more detailed investigation showed no signs of forced entry at the unit.
