IPOH: A senior police officer with the rank of Assistant Superintendent and four rank-and-file personnel were remanded for five days over suspicion of soliciting bribes amounting to RM3,000.

The remand order against the suspects, aged between 26 and 39, was granted by magistrate Kasyfurahman Abang Ahmad. The remand will expire on April 25.

It was learnt that the policemen were arrested by Perak MACC last night in a sting operation. The bribes were believed to be related to a drug case.

It was also learnt that the ASP is an Officer-In-Charge of a police station here while the four were from the same station.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC 2009.
