GEORGE TOWN: Penang police will consider reclassifying T. Nhaveen’s assault case on Saturday to murder.

Northeast District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said that he will refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor.

"A post-mortem will be conducted tonight. Yes we will recommend reclassifying (the case) to 302 of the Penal Code for murder for the charge," he said in a statement today.

The 18-year-old Nhaveen passed away today 6pm without regaining consciousness since he was admitted to the Penang Hospital on Saturday.

His friend T. Previin, 19, also sustained injuries during the early morning attack at Jalan Kaki Bukit here.

The five arrested suspects are currently being investigated for rioting under Section 148 of the Penal Code in another case involving another teenaged boy in Gelugor.
