PORT DICKSON: Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson has done Negri Sembilan and the country proud when it bagged two accolades from Guinness World Records for most swimming pools and overwater villas in a resort.
To commemorate the world-class achievements, Guinness World Records representative Swapnil Dangarikar officially presented the two plaques to Kuala Lumpur Metro Group managing director Datuk Low Tak Fatt and Lexis Hotel Group president Mandy Chew, respectively, in the presence of Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, at a ceremony hosted by the beach resort here today.
Also present were Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general Datuk Chong Yoke Har, Kuala Lumpur Metro Group chairman Datuk Mat Hassan Esa and executive director Datuk Yap Chuan Thai.
Ermieyati said Lexis Hibiscus has set a new record in the country where every accommodation comes with an indoor pool.
“It is this innovative touch that propelled the resort to secure, not one, but two, much coveted Guinness World Records.
“Not many… can boast of such achievements, and therefore, I encourage more Malaysians, individuals or corporate companies to emulate Lexis Hibiscus,” said the deputy minister.
Meanwhile, Mat Hassan said the RM400 million resort development, which opened to guests in 2015, has also contributed positively towards the country’s tourism industry.
“To date, our hotels and resorts (collectively) have attracted more than 3.2 million tourists from across 120 countries. At a conservative expenditure figure of RM1,000 per guest, Lexis would have already contributed more than RM3.2 billion in tourism receipts,” the group chairman highlighted, adding that plenty of job opportunities were also offered to the locals in the process.
“Lexis Hibiscus has also won other prestigious awards – World Luxury Hotel (Luxury Water Villa Resort for Southeast Asia Category) Awards in 2016, and recently, The BrandLaureateSMEs Signature Awards for the Best Brand in Hospitality for Hotels and Resorts.
“It is our hope and desire that one day, Port Dickson will stand tall among world class tourist destinations.”
Lexis Hibiscus was the first hotel to apply for and now holds the first record for such accolades from Guinness World Records.
It is a contemporary resort designed by a team of award-wining architects, featuring 639 pool villas, which consist of 522 overwater villas and 117 tower rooms.
The hotel’s unique design resembles the country’s national flower, Hibiscus – hence, the name and the manner its villas are sprawled accordingly.
