GEORGE TOWN : Around 250 members of the Bayan Baru Umno Veterans Club gathered to declare their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today.
Their campaign, "Support for PM" received good support from its members and several non-governmental organisations.
Umno Veterans Club national secretary Datuk Mustapha Yaakub said the move came about following former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's plot against Najib which had distorted the unity of Umno party members and Malays in the country.
"Tun Mahathir's actions are no longer tolerable.
"His actions and words towards Najib and Umno could disunite the Malays in this country.
"This campaign is to declare our support for Najib's administration," he said today.
The Umno Veterans Club has some 800,000 members nationwide, of which 80,000 members are from Penang.
