GEORGE TOWN: The body of a four-year-old boy was found floating in the waters of Pulau Aman here at 11.45am today.
Mohd Amir Khushairi, who had been missing since yesterday, was found by fishermen who alerted the authorities.
A Nibong Tebal fire and rescue department spokesman said the search and rescue operation for the boy had resumed at 8am today after being called off last night.
“However, we received a call informing us that the body of the boy had been found and taken to Sungai Bakap hospital,” he said.
Mohd Amir was last seen playing with his siblings at the Pulau Aman jetty here about 9.30am yesterday.
The search and rescue operation carried out by a team from the fire and rescue department together with local residents was put on hold at about 11pm, when it became too dark to continue.
