JOHOR BARU: A 32-year-old woman died due to severe head and body injuries less than two hours after her car crashed into a tree in Jalan Persiaran Pelangi Indah here early this morning.

The victim, an executive with a private firm, was on the way home in Taman Puteri Wangsa during the 3.50am incident.

She was immediately rushed to the Sultan Ismail Hospital's intensive care unit for treatment by the public.

However, she succumbed to her injuries at 6am.

Johor Baru Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said investigations revealed that the victim's Perodua Alza had lost control and veered across the road divider before crashing into a tree.

"The victim was alone at the time of incident and there were no other parties involved in the accident.

"We have classified the case under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
