BAGAN DATOH: The Home Ministry will intensify efforts to hunt down the remaining militants on its list.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the ministry, through the police, would track down all the individuals on the list, whether they were inside or outside the country.

“We are watching their every move. It is just that we do not want to over-publicise the issue as not everything can be made public,” he said here yesterday.

He was commenting on claims by several non-governmental organisations that the ministry and police were not doing their best to weed out militant activities.

Zahid said overall, the militant activities involving Malaysians were under control although there were attempts to expand it by providing military training to join in the fighting in countries such as Syria and Iraq.

“I know of those who accused police of playing a part in this illegal activity.

“Show me solid proof so that disciplinary and legal action can be taken against them.

“We do not want traitors in our midst, especially those tasked
with preventing and wiping out militant activities.”
