KUALA LUMPUR: An eight-year-old boy was among 23 Palestinian civilians killed after the Israeli Defence Forces started a massive air raid against Gaza since Tuesday.

A 'syahid list' released by the Palestine Health Ministry yesterday revealed that five other boys and a girl aged between 10 and 16, and a 62-year-old woman, had also become victims to the Zionist military forces.

Malaysian-based Humanitarian organisation Aman Palestin (AP) said its branch in Gaza reported that at least 200 others were injured, with 17 in critical conditions after Israeli jets bombed over 100 houses, mosques and a hospital.

AP chief executive officer Awang Suffian Awang Piut said the latest aggression on Gaza had worsened the situation there, with 1.7 million citizens facing imminent death due to scarcity of food and medicine.

This has prompted the organisation to launch an emergency fund for Gaza, which Awang Suffian said is aimed at collecting RM5 million donation to buy food and medicine for the war victims.

"The situation in Gaza is very critical now, especially with the blockade being imposed on Gaza Strip which prevented any supply of food, medicine and basic necessity items from getting in.

"Aman Palestin decided to launch this emergency fund, named 'Tabung Kecemasan Serangan Gaza 2014', to help ease the war victims' burden," he told reporters during a press conference at the organisation's headquarters near here on Tuesday.

He said the money collected will be transferred to AP office in Gaza, before being used to buy food and items needed for distribution to the war victims.

Awang Suffian also said that Malaysians should pray for the victims' safety.

"They are in really dangerous situation now," he said.

Anyone who wishes to contribute to the fund, can do so through Aman Palestin bank accounts by visiting its website at www.aman palestin.net, and Facebook page www.facebook.com/Aman PalestinOfficial for details.
