TELUK INTAN: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today announced that amnesty would be given to illegal immigrants to enable them to return to their home country safely.

He said those who wanted to take advantage of the amnesty should approach their respective embassies or consular offices for their documentation.

“Those who want to return to their home country can apply for the one-way traffic document even though they have been overstayed or did not have any valid travel document.

“However, if they want to return back to Malaysia, the documentation must be done through a proper channel via our temporary working permit,” he said.

Zahid who is also the Home Minister was speaking to reporters after visiting the Search and Rescue Operation Center for Sabak Bernam capsized boat incident yesterday.
