BEIJING: China's passenger car sales slid 2.2 per cent in May from a year earlier, data from the China Passenger Car Association showed on Tuesday, as a slowdown in demand persisted in the world's largest auto market amid a sputtering economic recovery.

Sales totalled 1.72 million vehicles last month and were up 5.3 per cent year-on-year to 8.15 million units in the first five months.
