KUALA LUMPUR: Popular film producer Datuk Yusof Haslam says he will accept it as fate should his eldest son, filmmaker Syamsul Yusof, refuse to visit him and his wife Datin Patimah Ismail as well as his other siblings at their family home ever again.

In a news report today, the 70-year-old legendary artiste said that both his wife and him could only pray for the best for Syamsul, despite not having met their son since he married Ira Kazar early last year.

"Initially, we were hurt. But we have come to accept the situation, as we're getting older and it's time for us to focus on our relationship with God.

"We just want to spend more quality time with family members and entertain our grandchildren. There's really no need for us to overthink things tha are beyond our control.

"What we can do is to pray for him. If one day he decides to visit us, Alhamdulillah. If not, we'll also accept it," he said.

Yusof also said he had never felt any hatred towards Syamsul, nor ever held any grudges against him.

"No parent in their right mind would hate their children."
