KUALA LUMPUR: Action thriller Sheriff has hit RM35.3 million in collections at the box office in 11 days, making it the top selling movie of 2024 thus far.

In an Instagram post, director Syafiq Yusof announced that the film had taken the lead as the highest grossing film for the year.

"Thank you all for making Sheriff the number one film at the box office, with RM35 million surpassing all international films screened in the country this year," he said.

He also said that Sheriff collected more than Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire which premiered on March 28 and Money No Enough 3 which premiered on Feb 10.

Syafiq added that Sheriff currently held the eighth spot in the list of Top 10 highest grossing Malaysian films.

The two highest-grossing local films are Mat Kilau, directed by his elder brother Syamsul Yusof, at RM97 million, and Polis Evo 3, which he directed, at RM54 million.

Sheriff is about a brave police investigator Sherifuddin Hussein (Zul Ariffin) who weeds out corrupt members of the police force.

He is also tasked with finding the mysterious Meth Killer who has been murdering allegedly corrupt police officers.

The ensemble cast also includes Datuk Aaron Aziz, Syafiq Kyle, Elizabeth Tan and Azira Shafinaz Ramlan.
