KUALA LUMPUR: The 9-year marriage of singer Adira Suhaimi and her husband, Datuk Seri Adnan Abu or Datuk Red, was finally dissolved today.

Datuk Red, 46, pronounced the talak at the Gombak Barat Lower Syariah Court in Rawang, Selangor, this morning, according to a Berita Harian report.

The case was heard before Syariah Judge Abdul Hadi Omar at around 9.39 am who confirmed that the statement was valid according to Sharia law.

Datuk Red looked downcast while Adira seemed calm when the case was read. She also agreed not to demand any alimony.

The ex-couple then shook hands in the court hall before leaving.

On March 5, Adira and Datuk Red had to undergo the Conciliatory Committee (JKP) process, where he appointed his good friend as JKP representative, while she appointed her sister, Emma Suhaimi, for the related proceedings.

It was reported that Datuk Red had requested for his first wife, Datin Seri Sharifah Norshafila Hassim, and his second wife, Adira, to withdraw their request for divorce last night.

On October 25 last year, Adira filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Before this, Adira filed for divorce in 2019 but withdrew it for the sake of their children.

Adira became Datuk Red's second wife after the pair tied the knot in Songkhla, Thailand on Dec 3, 2015.

The couple has four children together, namely Anggrek, 6, Asan, 5, Anggun, 4, and Ayob who is now a year old.

Datuk Red has five children with his first wife, Datin Red.

He also has two children from his first marriage when he was 20 years old which only lasted for five years.
