KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Zul Ariffin's latest film Sheriff has been quickly climbing up the box office with an impressive collection of RM16.3 million just after four days of screenings.

The 38-year-old artiste said that the action thriller highlighted a lot of suspenseful and tough scenes, especially with the explosion of a large vehicle.

"You have to watch this movie because there are many gritty elements, action scenes, and glimpses of humanity that are featured throughout the story.

"I'm sure that it will not disappoint viewers because Syafiq Yusof's golden touch as a director is the best, and so are the rest of the cast members.

"Datuk Aaron Aziz is the antagonist, and there are also actors Syafiq Kyle, Azira Syafinaz, and Elizabeth Tan giving great performances," he said in a Harian Metro report today.

Talking about the challenging titular role, Zul said that he had to prepare himself mentally rather than physically because the scenes in the film required a steely mindset.

"When entering the set for a film in the action genre, there's usually a team of stuntmen since they are more knowledgeable in the physical aspects and they know more in terms of safety issues.

"They help a lot, I just prepare my mind and I know the need to be mentally prepared and can't be manja (spoilt).

"It took a long time to understand the various scenes to effectively bring the character to life," he said.

Zul believes that Sheriff will continue to receive lots of support since everyone is still in the Aidilfitri mood.

"I like the plot for Sheriff which has many advantages not only in terms of the story, but also for each of the various characters.

"All the characters have an attractive vibe that will make the audience stay glued to their seats to continue following Sheriff's journey," he said.

Produced by Skop Productions and Astro Shaw, Sheriff is currently screening in cinemas nationwide.
