KUALA LUMPUR: At the age of 56-years-old, rock legend Datuk Awie is expecting his seventh child soon.
Awie, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, said he would soon welcome the new baby as his wife, Datin Sharifah Ladyana Syed Shamsuddin, 35, (Second from right) is currently five months pregnant.
"At the moment, we still have young children. I'm already 'five hundred and sixty years old,' the baby in the womb is only five months old, and imagine, in ten years, the child will only be ten years old, and I'll be 66. What's the point?
"So, I think I'll just continue with my business, watch the children grow up. There's nothing else to chase after, nothing to seek in a career that has lasted almost 40 years. It's been too long," he said.
Speaking about the Eid celebration, Awie mentioned that this time he had the opportunity to celebrate it with all six of his children for the first time in nine years.
"I'm grateful that the prayers to celebrate Hari Raya with all my children, especially two of them who are now under the care of my former wife, Putra Ahmad Rezzki, 16; and Putri Qasseh Antasha, 14; were answered by Allah.
"In these nine years, this is actually the first time I've been able to celebrate Eid with all my children because usually, every year, I would go on vacation when Aidiliftri arrives.
"However, this year is quite special because all my children are together, so I'll just stay at home waiting for friends and relatives to come for Aidilfitri," he said.
Through his first marriage with his former wife and singer, Arni Nazira, Awie was blessed with two daughters, Putri Aleeya Antasha, 24, and Putri Aleefa Antasha, 22, who are currently studying at university.
Awie then remarried for the second time to Rozana Misbun on June 20, 2005, but they legally divorced on November 1, 2014.
They were blessed with three children, Putra Ahmad Merrah, 17; Putra Ahmad Rezzki, 16; and Puteri Qasseh Antasha, 14.
However, Awie, who also acted in "Hantu Kak Limah" found his third love with his wife, Sharifah Ladyana, on October 7, 2016, and they were blessed with a son in 2020.
