KUALA LUMPUR: The guitarist of local band Himalaya, Pitt, died at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, here, at 7am yesterday, due to heart problems. He was 47.

Pitt, whose real name was Mohd Fitri Mohd Noor, leaves behind his wife, Fatin Amira Sanusi, 32, and seven children aged two months to 12 years. Fatin also does not work and is a full-time housewife.

According to a Harian Metro report yesterday, Pitt's sister-in-law, Farah Wahida, 28, said that she was contacted by her sister yesterday morning to inform her that her brother-in-law had passed away.

"My sister and her children didn't have time to go shopping for Raya clothes in the morning because my brother-in-law has passed away.

"At first, my sister told me that the deceased complained that his hands were numb and then he had a chest pain that went up to his head before he lost consciousness," she said.

Farah added that after the post-mortem was completed, the body was bathed and prayed for at the KM 6 surau along Jalan Cheras, here, and buried at the Raudhatul Sakinah Islamic Cemetery in Taman Selasih Phase 2.

Harian Metro previously reported that the deceased, who earned a meagre income by helping his friend with air conditioning maintenance work, had difficulties and was in dire need of a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) house.

The deceased was also reported to have suffered from heart disease since 2021 and had been admitted to Serdang Hospital before.

In addition to Pitt, the band Himalaya, under the New Southern Records (NSR) recording company, also consisted of Foo Art (singer), Din (guitar), Wan (bass), and Zack (drums).

They became popular through the song Junaidah 365 from their first album, Nombor Satu, which was released in 2001 and entered the popular songs chart for radio, topping the Era Chart several times.

Himalaya also produced a second album titled Bukan Dongengan in 2003.
