KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's arts scene gears up for a dazzling showcase of talent at the 19th Boh Cameronian Arts Awards (19BCAA).

Once again the Cammies honours and celebrates the achievements of performing artists who have continued to captivate audiences nationwide.

The 19BCAA nominations were revealed last Monday at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC) in 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya.

This year 74 productions in dance, music, musical theatre and theatre are judged by a formidable group of judges.

There will be 37 sub-categories including Best Actor/Performer in a Leading Role, Best Costume, Styling, Make-Up and Production Values.

Boh Plantations chief executive officer Jason Foo said: "The 19BCAA is special to us as it coincides with our 95th anniversary.

"I am confident the performing arts industry will continue to nurture the growth of creative expressions and drive excellence in the years ahead."

Organiser Kakiseni's president Low Ngai Yuen said: "It is crucial to recognise the relentless dedication poured both on and off stage. These nods are not just about talent – they are about recognising the excellence showcased through countless hours of passion.

"The BCAA has been a steadfast champion of excellence for almost two decades, dedicated to recognising the very best. In addition, it is essential to highlight that continuous efforts in judging and innovation in the performing arts are being recognised."

This year's theme Pentas Kehidupan: Meneroka Tanpa Batasan, has been chosen to celebrate the boundless exploration of creativity within the performing arts community.

The Cammies are endorsed by the Culture and Arts Department of the Tourism and Culture Ministry and will take place at PJPAC on May 5.
