THE 'BoBoiBoy Galaxy' animated series continues to thrill fans of all ages as the highly anticipated second season of the show that began seven years ago will be premiering on TV9 on Dec 13.

Produced by Animonsta Studios (Monsta), the upcoming season is adapted from the comic books published by the studio itself and promises to be a treat for the whole family.

"It's been 12 years since the BoBoiBoy animation came about and its young fans then have now grown up and started working," said Monsta chief executive officer Nizam Abd Razak.

"It seems that there are two groups of fans — the children and the adults.

"So from the storytelling aspect, there's the possibility of entertaining these two camps.

"In the second season, BoBoiBoy has new powers, adventures and friends. For me, what's more interesting is the similarity of the animation to the BoBoiBoy of old.

"It's pretty nostalgic for those who grew up with this animation. It's also a feel-good watch for the family."

He added that there's always more stories to be told and presented as the comics provide for a deep creative well.

"The 'BoBoiBoy Galaxy' comics were published in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. I remember after that, the country had come under the Movement Control Order, so we were faced with great difficulties.

"But because we had done the comics before, we already had a storyline in place. And the people who read the comics were vocal about them and we began to receive feedback.

"There were those who enjoyed it and suggested that we make some improvements or changes.

"If there were good and constructive comments, we took the initiative to follow up and change certain things for the animation," he said.

Nizam added: "I was surprised as I assumed that those who read the comics were school-going kids but it turns out that there were adults as well."

TV9 will be the official TV station for the returning series, which has proven to be a big hit.

"We are honoured since every time the series airs on our channel, it garners a very high rating.

"We recorded about 500,000 in viewership for each screening even though there have been re-runs several times already," said TV9 programming and airtime management general manager Khairunnisa Kamarulzaman.

"We hope that our viewers will be even more excited about this upcoming second season.

"To ramp up promotions for this series, we've had exclusive early screenings with fans and we've also organised competitions for them to win special merchandise."

Khairunnisa added that the series was a great fit for children since it incorporates a lot of useful values.

"BoBoiBoy is an animation brand that really fits in with our "Jaguh Kartun" theme on TV9, as the character portrays a never-give-up attitude and celebrates friendship.

"It indirectly fulfils the champion concept that TV9 strives to emphasise and wholesome values like these are what we want our TV9 viewers to inculcate in their daily lives."

'BoBoiBoy Galaxy' comprises four story arcs, namely 'BoBoiBoy Galaxy SORI', 'BoBoiBoy Galaxy Windara', 'BoBoiBoy Galaxy Gentar' and 'BoBoiBoy Galaxy Gur'latan'.

The 'BoBoiBoy Galaxy SORI' is already available via Netflix Asia and Monsta's channel on YouTube.
