KUALA LUMPUR: Music producer, actor and singer Altimet puts service above self, donating a van to be modified as ambulance to help the less fortunate during the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.
In an Instagram video he uploaded yesterday, the 42-year-old hip-hop star whose real name is Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Al-Hadad said that he had donated the vehicle to non-governmental organisation Pertubuhan Wilayah Ummah Malaysia, better known as One Nation Centre.
One Nation Centre will turn it into an ambulance to help ferry low-income folk to the nearest hospital for treatment, by equipping it with state-of-the-art medical devices.
Altimet said that the van used to belong to his company, and One Nation Centre would fork out expenses to upgrade it into an ambulance. The public is invited to give generously to the non-governmental organisation.
Altimet said: "It's costly to acquire an ambulance, that'll be a six-figure amount in Ringgit Malaysia, and this doesn't include the price of the van.
"I've recently given my company van to One Nation Centre, for use as an ambulance. They're welcoming public donations for its modification, and they'll use it to ferry the sick from low-income families to hospital.
"Thank you for your generosity, may God's blessings come to you as fast as the ambulance's wheels. Your contributions save lots of lives, we need about RM35,000 more."
Netizens praised Altimet for his compassion towards needy patients, and described his gesture as exemplary.

Petaling Jaya-born Altimet was a founder member of 1990s hip-hop group Teh Tarik Crew, before going solo in 2004.
His best known songs include Kalau Aku Kaya, Kotarayaku and Amboi.
He has also appeared in the films Rentap, Busker and Ejen Ali: The Movie, as well as Ola Bola The Musical.
