KUALA LUMPUR: Wanna One’s first Malaysian concert at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil here last night which drew some 8,000 passionate fans, went off without a hitch.

This was a stark improvement from the K-Pop act’s fan meeting held in January at Stadium Negara where some fans were reportedly injured and fainted due to its overcrowded rock zone.

In order to avoid a similar mishap, the concert-goers were constantly reminded by the organisers as well as Wanna One’s 11 members to remain in their respective spots throughout the show.

Some fans were seen to be pushing against one another whenever the boys walked over to the centre stage but there were enough security personnel around to watch out for any looming danger.

The concert, dubbed Wanna One World Tour - One: The World Kuala Lumpur, saw the members performing some 20 tracks including Boomerang, Light, Never, Beautiful, Energetic, Twilight, Always, I Promise You and Burn It Up.

Kang Daniel, Park Ji-hoon, Lee Dae-hwi, Kim Jae-hwan, Ong Seong-wu, Park Woo-jin, Lai Kuan-lin, Yoon Ji-sung, Hwang Min-hyun, Bae Jin-young and Ha Sung-woon showcased their vocal and choreography skills as well as boyish charm, sending fans screaming in frenzy.

“Even though we were here earlier for a fan meet, we’re so happy to finally hold a concert for all of you!” said Kang, who recently became the first idol to top the male South Korean idols’ monthly brand reputation ranking for a full year.

“And thank you for showing us that you have improved (in terms of taking care of your own safety).”

“Terima kasih datang (thank you for coming)! We promise to come back as soon as possible!” the other members added.

Wanna One was formed by the top 11 contestants of the South Korean reality show Produce 101 Season 2. It made its debut in August last year.

Despite its monstrous popularity around the world, the project group is expected to disband, as per their contract, by year end.
