KUALA LUMPUR: Following a recent article published by a gossip portal linking him with alcohol consumption, singer Syamel was reprimanded by his parents.
Denying the rumour, the 24-year-old artiste whose full name is Syameel Aqmal Mohd Fodzly, it was the misleading headline which read "Minum air kencing syaitan" (Drinking alcohol) that had his parents all worried.
"They were especially worried about fans who might only read the headline and draw a conclusion without bothering to read the article further.
"Initially I didn't think that such a gossip would hurt my image as a singer. However, when my parents brought up the issue of the misleading headline, I understood their concerns," he said.
However, Syamel who is also the runner-up of Astro's Akademi Fantasia (AF) 2015, is a participant for AF special edition, AF Megastar, which premiered last Sunday, does not blame the journalist who wrote the article.
