KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Tajul Ariff went to the Nilai District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Negeri Sembilan yesterday to assist in providing evidence linked to a fatal road accident case, according to Harian Metro today.

The 26-year-old artiste is believed to be a witness in the accident involving the son of Konsortium Industri Rakaman Muzik Malaysia (Irama) president Ayob Abdul Majid, Megat Muhammad Thaqief, 24, on the Kajang-Seremban Highway (Lekas) at midnight on April 24.

Tajul, who is also the younger brother of the late singer Achik of Spin, uploaded pictures of himself at the IPD with the caption: "I hope all of my affairs will be made easier. From the first day until today, I have never washed my hands clean of helping with the investigation".

Earlier, Ayob was reported to have been asking for a famous male artiste to come forward to cooperate with the police to help solve the accident case.

"His presence is important to provide the facts to complete the investigation of this fatal accident case," he said.

The accident claimed the life of Megat, who was riding a high-powered motorcycle at the time of the incident.

It happened when a car driven by a woman stopped suddenly and changed lanes, which resulted in Megat crashing into the car after not having enough time to avoid it.

The deceased suffered head and neck injuries and was rushed to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban, where he was pronounced dead.

Ayob said, through a conversation with his nephew (Megat's cousin), that the artiste was one of those who rode with the deceased before the accident.

It is understood that the artiste involved refused to cooperate because he was worried about being viewed negatively following his involvement in the incident.

Megat's body was then put to rest at the Ukay Perdana Islamic Cemetery in Ampang, Selangor.

Harian Metro's attempts to contact Tajul for comment were unsuccessful.
