Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Japanese retailer Uniqlo has held multiple initiatives to show its support towards the frontliners, in addition to providing aid to vulnerable communities.

The latest initiative is a donation of RM300,000 worth of essentials to those in need, which includes 500,000 meals for the underprivileged as well as Airism masks to frontliners at 10 vaccination centres.

In addition, oxygen concentrators were also donated across four hospitals in Penang, Kelantan and Johor.

As for food donation, Uniqlo worked with The Lost Food Project to distribute the 500,000 meals for their most vulnerable homes and charities.

Uniqlo Malaysia and Singapore chief executive officer Yuki Yamada said in addition to providing meals, the donation amounts to a reduction of 437,500 of carbon emission, as TLFP is a food bank that provides food in a sustainable manner.

The Airism masks were distributed in states where percentages of registered adults waiting to be vaccinated are higher, while the oxygen concentrators were given to hospitals in states that have higher daily Covid-19 cases.
