JOHOR BARU: The Johor Islamic Religious Council donated RM300,000 towards the welfare of flood-victims, in the affected districts, today.
State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said out of the amount, RM100,000 was contributed towards the State Disaster Fund.
While the remaining RM200,000, was distributed among the 10 districts in Johor, where its respective district officers received RM20,000 each, to supplement relief efforts and assist victims affected by the current flash-floods.
He said the obligation to extend assistance to those in need, reflected the teachings of Islam in fostering compassion and solidarity among the people.
Also present at the contribution handover ceremony held at Trove Johor Baru were State Islamic Religious Council advisor Datuk Noh Gadut and its Chief Executive officer Nasri Ali and district officers' representatives.
