SINCE its release in August 2010, Islamic app Muslim Pro's main features include the accurate prayer times, full audio Quran, Azan, Halal restaurants & Mosques guide, Qibla compass, Islamic Hijri calendar, Zakat calculation, Daily Inspiration contents, Fasting and prayer tracker, virtual Hajj journey, Popular Verses, daily Duas, Dhikr tracking in the Tasbih, and the latest Khatam Quran.

Its most used app is the digital Quran, accurate prayer times & Qibla compass with other community features such as Daily Inspiration Content and Fasting and Prayer tracker.

"Our latest Khatam Quran feature has garnered robust uptake in Malaysia with more than 30,000 Quran reading groups have been created via our app," the Muslim Pro team said.

Muslim Pro recently released its new Khatam Quran feature that allows users to 'Khatam' while 'Sadaqah' with their Quran reading either individually or in groups of up to 30 members.

"Also, Muslim Pro launched a crowdfunding campaign in collaboration with UNICEF's Children in Yemen Appeal that allows users to pay it forward with their readings as we make a corporate donation to disadvantaged Muslim children in Yemen and help them with their education as we reach our target. We've got more than 500,000 Quran readings created since the start of Ramadan and we aim to reach 10,000 Quran completions before it ends," the team said.

Challenges

Being one of the religious apps that were almost non-existent 12 years ago, the new movement has made it beneficial for Muslim Pro as it allowed them to truly understand the diverse market needs.

"One of the challenges faced is as similar as other organisations where scalability being the most challenging. Like any businesses, we need to find the right balance in the features we launched and the initiatives we do, how fast we can scale in terms of our systems and our infrastructure," the Muslim Pro team said.

It is also common that diversifications need to be addressed in each local market. Muslim Pro is keen to keep the app applicable and caters to users and ensure a good experience for them.

To meet the diversity of local needs while having a global footprint is no easy feat!

Based on a survey done by Muslim Pro in the US in late March, one of the key findings they found is that many prefer to gain access to religious resources online instead of using traditional print.

The insight found that Muslims in the US use technology the most and have shown how the religious communities across the United Stated coped up with the pandemic.

"Thirty-four per cent of religious Americans prefer a printed religious text, 28 per cent prefer online while another 15 per cent prefer to use a religious study app. Meanwhile, 11 per cent opt for audio recordings.

"Also, they found that 46 per cent of Muslims prefer to read online, 21 per cent prefer to read on the app," said the Muslim Pro team.

Since the pandemic has made many turns to religion for reassurance, 13 per cent said they rediscovered their faith during the pandemic and it has brought them closer to their religious communities.

However, 63 per cent believe that their faith is related to faith groups rather than the pandemic, and is agreed by 44 percent of American Muslims since they needed more members in their community more in the last year.

Future plan

Though they started as a religious app that provides religious features to Muslim users, Muslim Pro aims to further develop and solidifying its core features.

With this, they hope to continuously cater to the demands of Muslim users whilst adding new community and lifestyle features.

For now, Muslim Pro is at a pivotal stage of development where users can stay tuned for more updates from them and look forward to their new features.
