KUALA LUMPUR: Huawei has chosen Malaysia as the first country outside China to get the new Huawei Mate 30 series.

Launched in Munich, Germany, last month, the super flagship smartphone lineup will be available from today (Oct 3) through the Exclusive Ownership campaign.

The Huawei Mate 30 (8GB+128GB) is retail at RM2,799 while the Huawei Mate 30 Pro (8GB+256GB) is priced at RM3,899 and two colours will be made available to Malaysia’s market - silver and black.

At the same event, Huawei also launched 13 new products and Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), which include Huawei Watch GT 2, Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewears, FreeBuds 3,Huawei Wifi series and Huawei Band 4.

“Huawei Mobile Services is a new and redefined operating system, designed for an all-scenario and intelligent ecosystem,” said Kim So Yeon, Marketing director at Huawei Mobile Services, Asia Pacific.

The Huawei Malaysia Ecosystem Conference 2019 (HMEC’19), hosted by Huawei in partnership with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Media Prima, gathered over 200 delegates from government to industry players, business partners and budding app developers.

As part of the company's commitment towards developing a successful ecosystem, Huawei also announced Malaysia as one of the first countries globally to be part of the Huawei Shining Star programme, an initiative to encourage global developer innovation. Under the Shining Star programme Huawei has allocated resources amounting to US$1 billion (RM4.1b) to provide key support for app developers.

To further engage Malaysians interest in app development, Huawei has introduced the HMS integration challenge currently going on with more than 30 participants taking part in its first round of the challenge.

On top of the Shining Star programme, Huawei also awarded Huawei app Developer Scholarship worth RM30,000 each to two local universities, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Teknologi Mara.
