KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) has partnered with Deloitte to support its transformation initiatives by empowering local economies through specialised, customisable capability development programmes.

Both parties have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly drive the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) through a series of technology-led initiatives.

In line with the MADANI framework, both parties are looking at leveraging revolutionary technologies, advocating the adoption of GenAI and other advanced innovations among local businesses, especially exporters, to further enhance the country's international trade industry and bolster Malaysia's economy.

Matrade chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said this collaboration is a testament to the corporation's commitment to empowering Malaysian exporters and enhancing the nation's global trade capabilities.

By combining both parties' strengths, Reezal said it aims to create a thriving export ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders and drives sustainable economic growth.

"Our collaboration with Deloitte does not only support the MADANI framework but also aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of integrating AI and advanced technologies into our economy towards realising NIMP 2030," he said.

Designed to stimulate the Malaysian economy through public and private partnerships across Malaysia, Matrade and Deloitte will be co-creating specialised programmes that aim to identify and nurture high-potential sectors, facilitate market access, and provide tailored support to businesses.

Both parties will also establish a training academy for comprehensive and specialised programmes that will be tailored to meet the current and prospective needs of Malaysian exporters across different industries.

Furthermore, Matrade and Deloitte will jointly explore the potential of data, analytics, and GenAI to benefit both Matrade and Malaysian exporters.

This collaboration will involve Matrade leveraging the GenAI engine developed by Deloitte AI & Innovation Centre of Excellence (COE) based in Malaysia and industry's best practices to foster a culture of innovation, utilising advanced data analytics to generate actionable insights.

Deloitte Malaysia's Technology & Transformation Leader Azhar Hussin said that by tailoring the company's global expertise to a local context, it can deliver customised solutions that address the unique challenges and opportunities that Malaysian exporters are facing today.

"This partnership is about more than just technology and strategy; it's about empowering local businesses to thrive in the global marketplace while furthering Malaysia's values and national goals," he added.
