KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd today issued an apology for the mislabeling of the states of Sabah and Sarawak at the launch of its electric vehicle (EV) brand yesterday.

Proton unveiled its e.MAS brand, for its upcoming EV models, on June 12.

The company said in a statement it acknowledges an error in a presentation during the launch, mislabelling the states of Sabah and Sarawak and deeply regretted the mistake.

"We deeply regret this mistake and understand the sensitivities it has stirred among our fellow Malaysians," it said in the statement.

Proton said it holds the unity and diversity of Malaysia in the highest regard, and are committed to respecting and celebrating all states equally.

"We sincerely apologise for any misunderstanding caused and appreciate any feedback from the public," it added.
