KUALA LUMPUR: VSTECS Bhd was the stock market's top gainer today, hitting a high of RM3.58 a share, after the company was appointed as Amazon Web Services' (AWS) first distributor in Malaysia.

As at 4pm it was trading 29.7 per cent higher at RM3.58 a share, with some 12.8 million shares changing hands.

Its 52-week high was RM2.81 a share.

In a statement yesterday, the company said its unit VSTECS KU Sdn Bhd, as the first AWS distributor here will offer AWS's portfolio of highly scalable and cost-effective cloud services, including compute, storage, databases, analytics, networking, and application services to enterprises in the private and public sectors in Malaysia.

It said VSTECS' extensive network of channel partners and expertise in cloud services will ensure seamless access and support for Malaysian businesses looking to migrate to the cloud or optimise their existing cloud infrastructure.

VSTECS was listed on the Main market of Bursa Malaysia in 2010 and is  a distribution hub for information communication technology products.

According to VSTECS website it has a network of more than 25,000 channel partners across China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
