KUALA LUMPUR: Integrated gold jewellery manufacturer and retailer Tomei Consolidated Bhd is nearing the end of its existing licence tenure with De Beers Diamond Jewellers Ltd.

The tenure is set to end on Dec 10, the company said in a statement.

Tomei managing director Datuk Ng Yih Pyng said its agreement with De Beers has been a pleasant and cohesive experience throughout the tenure of the relationship.

"Our licence agreement with De Beers represents an important aspect of Tomei's position and strength in the jewellery retail industry.

"We will continue to seek collaborative and synergistic partnerships with other jewellery producers to widen our product offerings and bring more value to our customers.

"The conclusion of the agreement will not have any material impact on our financial performance," he added.

Ng said the total number of Tomei's retail outlets stands at 57 with the departure of De Beers, of which 53 are under the Tomei brand, two under Goldheart and two under Le Lumiere.

He noted that Tomei will continue its efforts to pioneer product quality and design creativity to cater various customers across Malaysia, bringing the brand to greater heights.

Tomei became an exclusive retail distributor for De Beers diamonds in Malaysia in 2013.

Under the licence agreement, Tomei was also granted the option to set up and operate De Beers retail outlets in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
