KUALA LUMPUR: REV Media Group (REV), Dattel Asia Group (DTL) and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation have teamed up to set up the OHSEM Digital Advertising Fund.

Worth RM21 million, the OHSEM Digital Advertising Fund was launched by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil during the OHSEM Marketing 360 event at Pullman Hotel, Bangsar on Aug 10.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) often limit their advertising to social media due to the low-entry cost.

With the OHSEM Digital Advertising Fund, SME entrepreneurs can now tap into advertisements worth RM8,000 for only RM1,000 on premium content platforms, such as the New Straits Times, SAYS, Berita Harian, Harian Metro and more.

SMEs will also gain access to user profile data platforms for more precise audience targeting and the artificial intelligence-powered REV Ad Manager platform.

According to Fahmi, this private and government collaboration initiative is highly strategic and carries an impact on SMEs, local content platforms and the national economy.

With SMEs advertising on local content platforms, this helps to ensure the sustainability of the local market, as well as further invigorate the national economy.

DTL's chief executive officer Ashran Datuk Ghazi, said: "I hope this initiative becomes a catalyst for comprehensive internal economic generation through the three impacts mentioned by Fahmi.

"We are very open to collaborating with market technology platforms and other content platforms to achieve the aspiration of helping SME entrepreneurs more quickly."

REV's chief executive officer Samuel Wee, added: "This initiative is just the beginning of our efforts at REV Media Group to support SME entrepreneurs. I hope SMEs seize this golden opportunity to try something new for themselves."

The OHSEM Digital Advertising Fund is limited to 1,000 entrepreneurs with approved applications.
