The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained traction when the index went up by 2.43 points at 1,394.92 right before the mid day break at 12.30 pm.

KUALA LUMPUR: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained traction when the index went up by 2.43 points at 1,394.92 right before the mid day break at 12.30 pm. 

At 12.30 pm, there were 338 gainers, 349 losers and 397 counters traded unchanged on Bursa Malaysia. 

FBMACE was at 5,115.27 up 20.40 points, and the FBMEmas was at 10,272.93 up 14.109 points. 

According to Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB), KLCI will try to break the immediate overhead hurdles of 1,400 and 1,412 zone in the short term. 

However, the overal trend still remained cautious due to multiple external factors such as the anticipation of Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes and overnight policy rate (OPR) decision which is set to come out tomorrow, July 6. 

Many expect the OPR to remain unchanged at 3 basis points. 

On state election, the Election Commission (EC) has officially announced that the upcoming state polls in six states is set on August 12 as the polling day for all six states namely, Kedah, Selangor, Terengganu, Kelantan, Penang and Negeri Sembilan.
