MOSCOW: Russia should increase eastbound rail freight traffic to 180 million tons this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with members of his government on today (Feb 7).

He did not give details on the current level of traffic, but 158 million tons headed east in 2022 according to Russian Railways figures.

Earlier today, Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev told the Federation Council there were plans to increase the capacity of eastbound railways to 210 million tonnes by 2030. — Reuters
