SEOUL: A small group of activists called for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war on Friday (November 17) in downtown Seoul.

About 30 activists displayed 2,000 pairs of shoes, symbolising Palestinian victims killed in the ongoing war. Activists hoisted signs calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and chanted "Free Palestinians".

Palestinian civilians have borne the brunt of Israel's weeks-long military campaign in retaliation for an October 7 attack by Hamas.

Gaza health authorities deemed reliable by the United Nations say at least 11,500 people have been confirmed killed in an Israeli bombardment and ground invasion — more than 4,700 of them children. -- REUTERS
