KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia defeated the Philippines 2-0 in the mixed team final to close their SEA Cup Squash Championships campaign with four gold medals in Manila on Sunday.

Sanjay Jeeva started the ball rolling for Malaysia by recording an 11-5, 11-8, 11-7 win over David William Pelino of the Philippines in 25 minutes at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

K. Sehveetrraa secured Malaysia an unassailable 2-0 lead with an 11-1, 12-10, 11-5 victory over Jemyca Aribado in 28 minutes to win the title.

Malaysia's other gold medals were in the men's individual (Sanjay), women's individual (Ainaa Amani) and mixed doubles (Ong Sai Hung-Ainaa) events.

Malaysia also won two silver through Sai Hung (men's individual) and Chan Yiwen (women's individual).

Sehveetrraa, 18, was understandably delighted to win her second mixed team SEA Cup crown following her 2020 victory.

"It has been great for me as I also won the Hong Kong Challenge Cup last week.

"I am looking forward to another good outing at the PSNS President's Cup in Negri Sembilan, which begins on June 26," said Sehveetrraa.
