KUALA LUMPUR: Ng Eain Yow upset the form book by battling past top seed Joel Makin to reach the German Open final.
The fourth-seeded Malaysian won 13-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8 in a tense battle that lasted for 73 minutes on Saturday.
Eain Yow will take on Switzerland's Dimitri Steinmann, who defeated third seed Mohamed El Sherbini of Egypt 11-8, 11-4, 11-1, in the final later today.
"You could see that I was trying to contain my emotions throughout the match and not show too much of it," Eain Yow told PSA World Tour.
"Against someone like Makin, you can't over-attack, and today I was really free, and I was hitting a lot of shots to the front myself.
"Makin, I think, was carrying an injury and wasn't 100 per cent.
"However, it was still a tough battle, which shows what a beast he is.
"I'm really proud of my game plan and how I kept mentally strong. I'm happy with the win, but it's not over yet this week."
