KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has issued a short-term moratorium to prevent concert organisers from installing any structures on the pitch at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil here.

The Malaysia Stadium Corporation (MSC), in a statement released today, said Yeoh came to the decision following a post-mortem by MSC on April 1.

"MSC held a post-mortem on April 1 to discuss the condition of the pitch after the match between Malaysia and Oman (Mar 27)," said the corporation.

"The meeting was chaired by Datuk Seri Windsor John, who is also a MSC board member.

"Following the findings of the post-mortem, Yeoh issued a short-term moratorium to prevent the installation of any stage structures, as part of concert preparations, on the grass. This is until the grass returns to good condition.

"This was conveyed to concert organisers during a dialog between them and the minister yesterday.

"The organisers can still make bookings, however, structures or speaker towers on the pitch are prohibited.

"This is to ensure that the grass at the National Stadium is not affected and is in an optimum condition for the next football match."

The condition of the pitch, which was not at its best, came under question during Malaysia's 2-0 defeat to Oman. The game was held just a month after the Ed Sheeran concert.

The Harimau Malaya squad will next face Taiwan at Bukit Jalil on June 11.

But before that, an exhibition match between Manchester Red vs Liverpool Red will be held on April 27.
