KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's fastest man, Azeem Fahmi, will run in the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, United States, today.

The Asian Games bronze medallist holds the national men's 100m record of 10.09s.

However, Malaysian Athletics Federation technical director John Ballard said he is not expecting Azeem to clock a fast time in the Yellow Jacket Invitational.

"I contacted coach Ken Harnden in the United States and he said Azeem is still doing the loading training. So, don't expect Azeem to peak in the race.

"The race is not for Azeem to make an attempt to qualify for the Olympics. It is more of a time trial race.

"He needs a few more races before he can qualify for the Olympics."

Azeem, who is studying at Auburn University, needs to clock a flat 10 seconds by the end of June to qualify for the Paris Olympics.

If he fails to do so, the sprinter can still qualify for the Paris Games by being ranked top 48 in the world by the end of June.
