KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia claimed its first gold medal for this edition of the World Wushu Championships in the United States through Wong Weng Son yesterday.

National teammate Clement Ting's 9.800 score was enough for him to claim bronze in the same event.

Loh Ying Ting also did well to win silver in the women's changquan after scoring 9.770 in the final.

Earlier in the morning session, Tan Cheong Min, who was reported to be suffering from flu, settled for bronze in the women's nangun after scoring 9.523.
