KUALA LUMPUR: National No 1 Ng Eain Yow is pleased to have bounced back strongly for the World Squash Championships in Chicago from May 3-11.

The world No 21 ended his week on a high after capturing the Irish Open title in Dublin on Monday by beating Egyptian Aly Abou Eleinen 11-2, 12-10, 11-3 in the final.

And Eain Yow underlined his strong form by winning the tournament without dropping a single game.

The 25-year-old bagged his sixth Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour title from 10 final appearances, and it is also his first win since capturing the Cleveland Skating Club Open in October last year.

More importantly, the Bristol-based Eain Yow also put his British Open setback behind him as he gears up for the world meet. At the British Open a fortnight ago, he suffered an uncharacteristic first round defeat against English wild card Curtis Malik.

But the Malaysian evened the score later with Malik by beating him in the Irish Open quarter-finals.

"I think I played really well in Dublin last week," said Eain Yow.

"There was a lot on my mind after a poor result at the British Open, so I'm proud of the way that I've picked myself up.

"Even though the competition was a PSA Challenger 20 level event, the entry list was closer to a PSA Challenger 30 level or even a World Tour Bronze level, so it was still a very competitive tournament.

"As for the World Championships, I've yet to get past the second round in all my previous attempts. So I'm really looking forward to going further this time whilst continuing to produce good squash," added Eain Yow.

The former world junior champion will meet world No 66 Abhay Singh of India in the first round. If Eain Yow wins, he is likely to meet 2017 world champion Mohamed Elshorbagy of England in the second round.

Veteran Ivan Yuen is the other Malaysian in the men's draw. He will meet England's Patrick Rooney in the first round.

The women's event will feature six Malaysians: S. Sivasangari, Aifa Azman, Rachel Arnold, Aira Azman, Noor Ainaa Amani Ampandi and Yasshmita Jadishkumar.
