LANGKAWI: The team from the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces, Uranus, might not be able to continue to challenge in the Premier Racing Class at the 2019 Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR) after having to face some technical issues.

Uranus, skippered by Mohd Masyuri Rahmat experienced problems with its sails during warming up yesterday (Monday), before technical issues surfaced to haunt the crew during the two races that were held earlier today (Tuesday).

Masyuri who is making a comeback after more than a year of not taking part in the RLIR, was visibly disappointed after having prepared meticulously to mount a serious challenge in the 17th edition of the Regatta.

"The spare parts that we need are in Phuket, Thailand, but then again those are not really similar. Now we are making efforts to get spares from Singapore or New Zealand.

"If we can get the parts we need as soon as possible, then perhaps we can take part in the following race,” said Masyuri who has prepared his crew as best he can.

Uranus ended Race 1 in fifth place out of five competing teams in the premier class before having to withdraw from Race 2.

After two races earlier today (Tuesday), Uranus are in last place in the overall Racing charts with 11 points.

Another team from the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces, Saturn, skippered by Norhafisam Ahmad ended Race 1 in third place and placed fourth in Race 2.

Saturn are now fourth overall with seven points while the leading team, Hollywood – Provezza which is skippered by experienced Australian Ray Roberts are leading the standings as expected with two points.
