IPOH: The Azman sisters led Kedah to victory in the women’s squash team event on the final day of the Malaysia Games on Sunday.

Kedah, represented by Aifa, Aira, Aika, notched a 2-0 win over Negri Sembilan in the final at the MBI Squash Complex here.

Aira downed M. Kiroshanna 11-5, 8-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-3 in the opening match before Aifa defeated Ooi Kah Yan 11-2, 11-4, 11-7 for the crown.

Aifa, who is already an accomplished player at international level, said it was a proud achievement for the state.

In the 2016 Sarawak edition, Kedah were defeated in the final by Federal Territories (FT).

“I am grateful to be in the Kedah team together with my sisters, Aika and Aira.

"We knew what we were capable of but were also wary of Negri as Kiroshanna and Kah Yan are also national players."

In the men’s event, FT defeated Sarawak 2-1 for the gold.

Ng Eain Yow delivered the opening point for FT with 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 win over Marcus Sim.
