KUALA LUMPUR: Former national bodybuilding champion, Sazali Samad is not ready to bid farewell to the sport even though he is currently serving a four year ban imposed by the Malaysian BodyBuilding Federation (MBBF) for failing a dope test back in September 2015.

Sazali, who has 10 Mr. Universe titles under his belt, stressed that the words ‘give up’, ‘walk away’ or ‘retire’ do not exist in his vocabulary furthermore when he loves the sport so much.

In fact Sazali, 51, did not discount the possibility of making a return to the sport as a national athlete despite his advancing years.

“For now, to stop or retire is not in my vocabulary. I have been going with my life as usual, watching my diet, training and so on, so forth.

“And people always check up on me from time to time on social media through my Facebook and Instagram accounts, and it’s not just my fellow Malaysians but those from overseas as well.

“All of them can see for themselves the quality of my physique and the ship-shape physical condition that I am in at present, they all know that I am ready to compete at any time. My heart and soul are still very much inclined for bodybuilding,” said Sazali when met at the 2018 Mr. Putrajaya BodyBuilding Championship held here earlier today (Saturday).

Meanwhile, 2018 Mr. Putrajaya champion, Muhd Asmawi Zolkifli, 24, said that his efforts in training and his strict discipline in practising a healthy, balanced diet paid off with him emerging victorious.

Asmawi revealed that this is his biggest success and achievement to date since first trying out back in 2015, and the title win is the perfect tonic for him in the build up to the Mr Malaysia BodyBuilding Championship which will take place very soon.

For the record, Sazali was found to have tested positive in a doping test carried out by Malaysia Anti-Doping Agency (ADAMAS) on September 1, 2015 before he was scheduled to leave to Tashkent, Uzbekistan to take part in the 49th Asia BodyBuilding Championship at that time.

Sazali was then suspended for four years by MBBF effective from September 22, 2015, which was when the results of the dope test were made known.
