GLAMOROUS Tanalaksiumy Mahenthiran Rayer, a Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 finalist, may be well known in the entertainment industry, but she’s also aiming to build a successful career in athletics.

The 23-year-old from Penang has big dreams and hopes to compete at the highest level as a sprinter for Malaysia.

Fondly known as Tana, she hopes to make the squad for next year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the Indonesia Asian Games.

She was part of the quartet - which also comprised Fatin Faqihah Yusof, Nurul Faizah Asma Mazlan and Shereen Samson Vallabouy - that won a bronze medal in the women’s 4x400m event at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games in August.

“I am now busy with studies, acting and community activities. I will not quit athletics... it is my passion. I have been an active runner since I was 10.

“My goals are to be an established runner and also to complete my studies at HELP University.

“I will try my best to get into the teams for the Commonwealth and Asian Games. I have big dreams,” said Tana, who also wants to take up golf soon.
