KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian MotoGP rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah will be relying on physical strength in challenging himself to do better for the Malaysian Grand Prix (GP) this coming weekend.

The Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider failed to finish the race during the Australian GP last weekend after starting from 10th spot on the grid – his best start to date in his inaugural season racing in MotoGP’s premier class.

“I will be going out on the circuit aiming to do my best in this weekend’s race,” said Hafizh. “Now I am challenging myself to do even better on home soil at Sepang.

“I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to Malaysian MotoGP fans who will be coming out in force this time round as ticket sales have surpassed that of two years ago.

“This is definitely a motivating factor for me to do as best as I possibly can and challenge the other riders that I will be going up against, which is what I did last weekend in Phillip Island. It’s just that I need to make sure that I am able to finish the race.”

In related developments, Hafizh also announced that his race bike will also be equipped with a ‘winglet’, similar to the one used by his teammate Johann Zarco.

“In the Thai GP at Buriram, there were not much that was done in terms of changes, it only involved the suspension, but the engine actually needs more power in order to maintain high speed so that we can stay competitive.

“For the Malaysian GP in Sepang, the bike will remain as it is except for the ‘winglet’ similar to the one on Zarco’s bike, and I can promise all of you that I will take to the track determined to finish strongly and score as many points as possible,” said Hafizh.
